About the Board

All local Citizens Advice offices are local independent charities, governed by their own board of trustees, who are ultimately responsible for the quality and range of the service. Day-to-day control is delegated to the managers and the Trustees:

  • hold staff accountable, and are ultimately accountable for the activities of Citizens Advice Wokingham
  • provide leadership to all at Citizens Advice Wokingham
  • develop policy
  • provide strategic management
  • are responsible for compliance with relevant laws and Citizens Advice membership requirements

David Cook

Acting-Chair and Trustee

David worked at 3M Company Bracknell, after 15 years on their Management Board running several of their UK and Ireland Business groups he moved to the Head of Strategy, Marketing and Government Affairs  for the company, he then set up his own company working with SMEs on Strategy and Marketing.

He has also worked in the public sector as Vice Chairman Wokingham Clinical Commissioning Group, Chairman of the Economic Development and Skills Committee for Bracknell Forest Local Authority, Director of Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership and more recently Chairman of Optalis Ltd.

David has had several positions in the voluntary sector including  Chairman South East Region Business in the Community and Trustee More Arts Wokingham.

Mike Drake

Treasurer and Trustee

Mike has lived in Wokingham for over 30 years and joined the Board in 2018. He is a Chartered Accountant and has worked in large and small organisations in the Thanes Valley and North Hampshire for most of his career. Mike is currently Head of Finance at the National Almshouse Association, a charity delivering community led housing

Sarah Browning

Trustee

Sarah joined the Board in October 2019, having previously been a trustee at another local charity for 5 years. She is an independent communications specialist, with 16+ years’ experience working with charities, higher education and other not-for-profit organisations, to help them connect effectively with their audiences. She describes herself as Berkshire born and bred and lives locally with her husband and daughter.

Andrew Reaney

Trustee

Andrew has worked a total of 34 years for British Gas (Centrica) in Commercial, Sales, Marketing, Customer and Operational senior leadership roles. He has worked in USA and Canada and is now Sales Director for British Gas. Andrew also spent just over two years as Chief Customer Officer at Thames Water returning to British Gas at the end of 2016 to lead the installations business. Andrew is also Chair of Reading FC Community Trust and a Trustee of Hurst based Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre (DBARC), Wokingham Foodbank and a Member Nominated Director of the Centrica Pension Scheme. Andrew lives locally in Woosehill.

Jan Cameron

Trustee

Jan’s career has spanned 35 years in both the private and public sectors, predominantly in roles within HR and recruitment. She spent almost 20 years with Sainsbury’s and Homebase working in a range of policy and operational HR roles culminating in heading up the HR Division at Homebase. She then served on the board of the executive search firm Norman Broadbent plc before her appointment in 2015 as a Civil Service Commissioner, for a fixed, five-year term. The Commission is an independent body which regulates recruitment to the Civil Service, providing assurance that appointments are on merit after fair and open competition (Commissioners sit outside Government and the Civil Service and are Crown Appointees). She was previously a Member-Nominated Director of the Trustee Board for the Sainsbury’s Executive Pension Scheme and has sat as a member of the Employment Tribunal for HM Courts and Tribunals Service in Reading since 2005.

Cllr Maria Gee

Trustee

Dr Maria Gee is appointed to our Board by Wokingham Town Council. She is the Wokingham Town Councillor for Emmbrook North Ward.

Maria has lived in Wokingham with her family since 1983.  She is a chartered accountant with 10 years experience in the private sector as an auditor and tax manager, and 25 years working in higher education, mainly teaching accounting and finance.
